Most villagers refer to this Villa as 'it-Tempju' (the temple). This villa is located at the lowest part of Żejtun, just as the beginning of Ħajt il-Wied. Villa Cagliares was built during the 17th century and served as the summer residence of Bishop Cagliares, the only Maltese Bishop chosen to lead the Maltese diocese under the Order of St. John. Today this Villa has been completely restored and serves as a private residence. In 2006 the restoration of Villa Cagliares was awarded the Prix d'Honneur by Din l-Art Ħelwa.
